Adding Chat to Squarespace

Add your TAB chat widget to your Squarespace website. Works with all Squarespace templates.

What you need

  • A Squarespace Business plan or higher (required for code injection)
  • Access to your Squarespace account
  • Your TAB embed code (from Channels > Chat Widget > Embed)

Step-by-step guide

Step 1: Open your Squarespace site

Log in to Squarespace and open your website.

Step 2: Go to Settings

  1. Click Settings in the left sidebar
  2. Click Advanced
  3. Click Code Injection

Step 3: Add the code

  1. Find the Footer section
  2. Paste your TAB embed code there
  3. Click Save

Step 4: Test it

Visit your live website and look for the chat bubble in the corner.

Alternative: Page-specific code

If you only want chat on certain pages:

  1. Edit the page where you want chat
  2. Click Settings (gear icon) for that page
  3. Click Advanced
  4. Paste your code in the Page Header Code Injection area
  5. Save

Repeat for each page where you want the widget.

Plan requirements

Code Injection is only available on:

  • Business plan
  • Commerce Basic
  • Commerce Advanced

Personal plans don't support custom code. You'll need to upgrade to add the chat widget.

Troubleshooting

Chat not showing

  1. Verify your plan supports code injection
  2. Make sure you added code to Footer, not Header
  3. Clear your browser cache
  4. Try viewing your site in incognito mode

Error saving code

  • Check for extra spaces at the beginning or end
  • Make sure you're pasting the complete code
  • Try copying fresh from TAB

Chat appears on some pages but not others

If you used page-specific injection, the chat only appears on those pages. For site-wide chat, use the Settings > Advanced > Code Injection method.

Chat hidden behind other elements

Some Squarespace templates have elements that overlap the corners. Try:

  • Changing widget position (left vs. right) in TAB settings
  • Adjusting template spacing

Tips for Squarespace

Match your template

Squarespace templates have distinct styles. Customize your chat widget colors in TAB to complement your template's design.

Mobile preview

Use Squarespace's mobile preview to check how the chat bubble looks on phones. The widget should be visible and not block important content.

Multiple languages

If your Squarespace site has multiple languages, your TAB agent handles the conversations. Consider training your agent in the languages your visitors use.
