Deleting an Agent

If you no longer need an agent, you can delete it. This guide explains how.

Before you delete​

Make sure you want to do this. Deleting an agent:

  • Removes all its settings
  • Removes all its training content
  • Disconnects it from all channels
  • Cannot be undone

Your conversation history (in the Customers section) will still be available, but the agent itself will be gone.

How to delete an agent​

  1. Click Agents in the sidebar
  2. Click on the agent you want to delete
  3. Click the Delete button at the top of the agent page
  4. Confirm that you want to delete

What happens after deletion​

Immediately:

  • The chat widget stops working on your website
  • WhatsApp conversations stop being answered
  • The agent disappears from your list

Your data:

  • Past conversations are kept in the Customers section
  • Training documents are removed
  • Settings are gone

When you might want to delete​

The agent isn't needed anymore Business changed, product discontinued, campaign ended.

You're reorganizing Creating new agents to replace old ones.

You hit your limit Need to free up a slot to create a new agent.

Alternatives to deleting​

Before deleting, consider:

Disconnect channels instead If you just want the agent to stop talking to customers, disconnect it from the chat widget and WhatsApp. The agent still exists for reference.

Update instead of replace You can completely change an agent's settings, content, and behavior. You don't need a new agent to make changes.

What to do after deleting​

If the agent was on your website:

  • Remove the embed code from your site
  • Or replace it with a new agent's code

If the agent was on WhatsApp:

  • Consider connecting a replacement agent
  • Or let customers know the number is inactive

Common questions​

Will I lose my conversation history? No. Customer conversations are stored separately. You'll still be able to see past chats in the Customers section.

Can I recover a deleted agent? No. Deletion is permanent. If you might need the agent later, consider just disconnecting its channels instead of deleting.

Will I get my data storage back? Yes. When you delete an agent, the data storage used by its training content is freed up.

Deletion cannot be undone. Make sure you really want to remove this agent before confirming.
